About the role Reporting to the Swim School Coordinator and Team Leader you will work closely with other Swim Instructors and the wider centre team to provide instruction, supervision and advice for students enrolled in YMCA NSW swimming lessons. Program delivery – Planning and delivering swimming lessons that follow YMCA NSW programs and industry guidelines, ensuring students' progress at an appropriate pace. Safety & supervision – Monitoring students closely in lessons, ensuring safe use of equipment and maintaining a hazard‑free pool deck. Customer experience – Providing clear feedback to students and parents/carers, responding promptly to questions or concerns, and promoting a positive, enjoyable learning environment. Centre contribution – Representing YMCA NSW professionally, modelling expected behaviours and supporting a clean, well‑presented facility. Compliance & risk management – Following YMCA NSW policies and procedures, including incident reporting, hazard management, essential qualifications and safeguarding. About you We’re looking for someone who brings: Experience teaching swimming lessons or working in an aquatic, sport or recreation environment Experience working with children, young people and families You must hold (or be willing and able to obtain before starting): Current CPR certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent – renewed annually). Provide First Aid (HLTAID011 or equivalent – renewed every 3 years). AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety licence (or equivalent industry‑recognised swimming instructor qualification). Valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment. You will thrive in this role if you are: Self‑motivated – you take initiative to prepare, deliver and improve your classes.
