The Opportunity The Global Disease Modelling (GDM) team are an interdisciplinary team of researchers that develop and use mathematical models to understand parasitic and viral diseases and inform public health decision-making. Led by Professor Melissa Penny, the GDM group use data analysis, modelling and simulation, to examine complex interactions between infectious diseases, individuals, populations, medical interventions, and health systems, with the goal of informing decisions during product development through to implementation and policy recommendations. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Research Support Officer to provide efficient administrative, project and operational support to the GDM team and their funded projects. This role will work collaboratively with the team head, program manager, and other scientists, to proactively identify and respond to needs and actions for the effective functioning of the team. In this dynamic role, you will: Support team-wide events and local and travel arrangements. Provide secretarial support including preparation of agenda, papers, and minutes. Manage the team inbox, social media accounts, and other relevant channels. Provide financial support including reimbursements, purchasing and procurement, and credit card reconciliations. Based within our modern offices at Perth Children’s Hospital, this role will be offered on a part-time (0.8FTE) basis for a 2-year period. Full-time will be considered for the right applicant. About You The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree/certification in a relevant area, and/or extensive experience in administration support. This role may suit someone who has recently graduated or is currently studying part-time in the fields of public health, global health or a related field, and is interested in gaining valuable experience in a collaborative research team. Along with this, you will also possess the following skills: Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to improve processes. Adaptability and ability to predict needs and action. Ability to work independently, use initiative and set priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent people skills with a desire to help others and develop collaborative relationships with multi-level stakeholders. Demonstrated experience working with a multidisciplinary and diverse team.
