Your Role as a Cloud Engineer The Cloud Engineer is responsible for supporting WMQ’s transition from on-premises hosted infrastructure to SaaS and cloud-based platforms. This role provides technical leadership across cloud infrastructure design, service migration, automation, and management. Key responsibilities of this position include: Configuring and maintaining Azure infrastructure, virtual networking, identity integrations, and hybrid connectivity across complete lifecycle. Working with vendors and internal teams to plan, execute, and document migration milestones. Automation of provisioning, patching, and backup processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Monitoring and optimising cloud performance, availability, and cost management through Azure Monitor, Cost Management, and related tools. Close collaboration with the Security and Infrastructure teams to implement and maintain secure configurations, access controls, and monitoring solutions. Participating in on-call and escalation rotations as part of operational support. What We’re Looking For Completion of a tertiary qualification in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science. Exceptional attention to detail, especially when working with data, configurations, and system logic. Strong experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and associated services (EG: Virtual Networks, Storage, Purview, Defender for Cloud). Understanding of cloud security and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight). Essential Requirements Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy) Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work.
