The key duties of the position include The Role Assist with and advise on procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and contract management activities ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures. Provide advice, assistance and service during the procurement lifecycle on contracting activities including coordination of legal and financial services. Assess and assist with the implementation of mitigation strategies for the risks associated with procurement and contracting activities, contract performance and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks. Understand the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, procedures and compliance obligations and explain the relevance to work responsibilities. Engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. Build and sustain productive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team The Legal Services Coordinator role sits within the Directorate of External Legal Services (DELS), which is within the Legal Practice Enablement (LPE) branch of Defence Legal. The DELS team is broadly tasked with the following: Management of approximately $80 million dollars per annum of legal expenditure. Facilitation of the procurement of external legal engagements under the Whole of Government Legal Services Panel and other procurement avenues as appropriate. Report on legal engagements across Defence and its associated agencies internally to Defence and externally to stakeholders from other government agencies or industry. Manage and respond to queries from across Defence and its associated agencies on the engagement and management of external legal services. Building and sustaining productive relationships with supervisors, staff and team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities. Our Ideal Candidate As a Legal Services Coordinator you will assist to plan and undertake procurement and contract management activities associated with the engagement of external legal services on behalf of Defence and its associated agencies.
