About the Team The Finance team, part of the Corporate Services Branch, is seeking exceptional candidates for an ongoing role focused on providing financial expertise, advice and support across the agency by managing forecasting, budgeting cycles, reporting and operational processes. This role ensures accurate financial planning and promotes financial literacy among stakeholders and executives. The Finance team supports the agency's operational efficiency by delivering high-quality financial services that align with Commonwealth legislation, policies, and guidelines. The team promotes integrity, accountability, and transparency in all financial transactions and supports staff with clear guidance on financial procedures and compliance requirements. The key duties of the position include Typical Duties The duties of this role typically encompass finance business partnering, internal reporting, overseeing travel and credit cards and other ad hoc duties, including but not limited to: Engagement and collaboration with stakeholders to manage the budgeting and forecasting cycles (internal and external). Monthly reporting, including variance analysis and commentary. Preparation of month end and year end processes. Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to drive effective performance management and support organisational objectives. Manage compliance, approvals, monitoring usage, and ensuring policies and procedures for travel and corporate credit cards are followed. Implement policies and tools that enable informed decision-making for key internal stakeholders. Provide responsive, professional, and solutions-focused support to internal and external stakeholders. Provide leadership and guidance to finance staff, fostering capability development, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team. Cultivate positive working relationships across the agency to promote financial literacy, compliance and efficiency. Selection Criteria Proven experience in financial management and implementing financial policies, tools, and frameworks that support long-term objectives. Delivery of high-quality financial outcomes within tight deadlines and complex environments. Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across all levels of the agency. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and persuasively to non-finance audiences. Qualifications/Experience CPA/CA qualified, with tertiary qualifications in a related field is mandatory. Recent experience in relevant roles in the Australian Public Service will be highly regarded. Experience in CBMS and SAP systems or similar, or the demonstrated ability to quickly gain expertise in these systems.
