The Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission) is Australia's national human rights institution, dedicated to fostering a society where human rights are upheld, protected, and celebrated. The Commission partners with other federal bodies to advance human rights and support inclusive and safe workplace cultures. This includes partnerships with the Australian Defence Force/Department of Defence (Defence), the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Border Force (ABF)-collectively referred to as the Security Group. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated policy officer to join our Defence Collaboration team. In this role, you will utilise your research expertise and knowledge of human rights and workplace cultural reform to support various projects aimed at fostering safe, diverse, and inclusive environments within the partner security agency. This full-time / part time, ongoing position / non ongoing position offers a competitive salary range of $94,563 - $105,910 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation. We offer flexible, hybrid and remote work options. The key duties of the position include What You'll Do: Contribute to projects in accordance with decided goals, timelines and budget, as directed. Undertake research and analysis, including collecting, interpreting and evaluating evidence relating to a broad range of issues on human rights and workplace cultural reform within the security agency. Undertake field research including focus groups, consultations and interviews (some domestic travel will be required). Prepare high-quality written materials for a range of audiences, such as speeches, reports, briefing papers and other material. Support partnership program planning and performance measurement activities. Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, particularly within the partner agency. Work collegiately with internal and external stakeholders across the Commission in the planning, administration and conduct of the team's work and in the development and delivery of the Commission's identified goals and priorities. Provide organisational and logistical support for activities conducted by the partnership team and work collaboratively with other team members in the Security Group.
