Our community meal is held each Fri day Morni ng at 11:30am-12:30 pm. It is a warm and welcoming space that meets the needs of our community, providing a nutritious meal, and a space for people to gather and con nect. Working within a commercial kitchen facility, our V- Cook, play s a key role in supporting our community by providing consistent, reliable and most importantly, nourishing meals at our weekly Community Meal in a safe, welcoming place. The role is to prepare the food ready for serving to the Community Members . An ideal role for those who enjoy cooking in a team environment. Meal p reparation and service : With guidance and instruction from the Supervisor , prepare meals according to the planned menu and the number of meals . Set up and clean up: With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, assist with initial set up, clearing of tables, pack up , wash up and waste disposal. Manage stocks and storage: Applying high regard for food safety standards, assist wit h ensu r ing food stocks are replenished and within use by dates , and all food items are stored and labelled correctly. Support to the Team - Assist the Mission Volunteer Food Services team to meet daily outcomes - Meals delivered within the directed timeframe and appropriate customer service delivery - Clean and hygienic kitchen and surroundings in keeping with health regulations - Provide encouragement to other team members Q ualifications and skills (desired/ ) Experience in cooking for large numbers of people Experience in food preparation, handling and service Relevant food handling q ualifications as required by local council authorities The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
