Restaurant Manager Location: 11-13 Torquay Road, PIALBA, Hervey Bay, QLD, 4655 Employment Type: Full Time Salary: AUD 77,000 – 80,000 The Hervey Bay RSL is one of the biggest entertainment venues on the Fraser Coast and is much loved by the 40,000 plus financial members. The club provides a variety of wonderful facilities for its members, visitors and guests. Including restaurant, cafe, 5 separate bars, child fun centre, function and meeting rooms for the general public, auditorium, bottle shop, snooker room, courtesy bus, 280 gaming machines, Keno & TAB. We have a vacancy opening for skilled and experienced Restaurant Manager to join our team. This role is to ensure the efficient operations of the entire front of house catering operations of the Club, with particular emphasis on exceptional customer service, and consistency of staff’s duties and responsibilities under the direction of the Executive Chef/Catering Manager. Summary of Duties Managing staff on shift, giving direction and motivating Training of staff Tanda – assisting with rosters Tanda – covering shifts when required Staff performance – managing and conducting performance appraisals Handling Customer complaints in a prompt and professional manner Ensuring staff are adhering to our SMILE values Liaising with Head chef when required Major Responsibilities and Tasks : Preparing restaurant for operation including cutlery, decorations, and accompaniments. Familiarising yourself with the menu and in particular any specials. Planning menus in consultation with Chefs. Ensuring that the restaurant areas are always kept clean and tidy by returning all plates to kitchen and glasses to bar. Serving patrons as required. Keeping work area clean at all times. In liaison with Function Co-ordinator as to the function and staffing requirements as required. Planning and organising special functions. Setting up functions as required. Inputting all weekly rosters into system (keeping to 2 weeks in advance). Forecasting rosters and reducing weekly wage cost where possible. Checking over and approving roster discrepancies, ensuring all data is correct and ready for payroll. Front of House staff are primary responsibility; Exec Chef to confirm when Back of House checks/approvals are required. Ensuring correct operation and balancing of cash registers at the end of shifts, ensuring a high level of accuracy and honesty and following up on any till variances with staff. Increasing sales at all opportunities through customer service staff practicing up selling and cross selling. Ongoing product knowledge and sales training to maximize sales and increase average spend. A maintaining record of stock levels and financial transactions. Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget. Maintaining dining room order of service according to the Club’s quality and service standards. Ensure all dining areas are fully set-up, maintained and cleared. Ensure Responsible Service of Alcohol policies are implemented and maintained. Supervise all staff working in dining areas. Ability to learn to coach and train staff on the job. Covering extra shifts as required, in the case of staff shortages, to ensure service standards are maintained. At the end of the shift make entries into the diary to assist the communication process within your department. Communicate ideas for improvement from staff to management. Ensuring that each job allocation is carried out safely according to the Clubs safe work practices. Maintain hygienic food handling practices and cleanliness of all staff. Identifying any workplace hazards and reporting them to the WH&SO. Ensure safety and cleanliness of front of house customer areas and areas surrounding restaurant, ensuring all cleaning and maintenance schedules are complied with. Liaise with patrons and guests, always treating with respect and courtesy. Qualifications and Experience: Advanced Diploma or Diploma level qualifications Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager for 3 years. Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate Good written and oral communication skills Ability to communicate well with all ages Ability to work under pressure Ability to correctly process sales transactions Ability to supervise staff High standard of personal hygiene and grooming Customer service focus Ability to work flexible hours Ability to work with minimal supervision
