Description About the Role: We’re looking for a skilled Senior Officer – Media & Communications to help shape the way our stories are told across traditional media, digital channels, internal communications and organisational reporting. Reporting under general direction, this newly created role plays a key part in strengthening brand visibility, promoting services and engaging staff, clients, stakeholders and the wider community. The position offers a balance of hands-on content creation, media engagement and strategic collaboration across traditional media, digital platforms, internal communications and organisational reporting. You will develop and coordinate content across digital, print and social channels, source and produce compelling stories that demonstrate impact, and support proactive and reactive media activity. The role also contributes to internal communications, executive messaging and board level reporting, ensuring all materials align with brand standards and organisational priorities. Working closely with marketing, fundraising and service delivery teams across WA and Tasmania, you will provide specialist advice to ensure communications are clear, effective and aligned with strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities Content Development & Management Develop and coordinate content for digital, print and social media channels. Source and craft compelling client and service stories that showcase our impact and community engagement. Media Relations Support proactive and reactive media activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets. Identify opportunities to enhance organisational reputation through positive media exposure. Internal Communications Coordinate internal communication activities that connect and engage staff across WA and Tasmania. Draft and distribute internal updates, executive communications and staff announcements. Organisational Reporting Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and updates for executive and board-level stakeholders. Brand & Strategic Alignment Ensure all messaging and materials align with brand standards and organisational priorities. Contribute to communication plans and campaigns that support organisational objectives. Collaboration & Support Work closely with marketing, fundraising and service delivery teams across multiple locations. Provide expert advice and support on communication activities, ensuring visibility and effectiveness. Perform other duties as reasonably required. Skills And Experiences About you Essential Skills Experience in media, communications or public relations with the ability to apply specialist knowledge. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences and channels. Strong understanding of brand strategy and experience creating content for digital, print and social media. Experience coordinating internal communications and producing reports and presentations. Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. A collaborative mindset and the ability to build positive working relationships. Confidence to work with and take instruction from senior management. Tenacity to seek out good news stories and enriching content to populate communication channels. Alignment with the mission and values of Guide Dogs WA and Tasmania, Visibility and Kites. Desirable Skills Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Media, PR, Marketing or a related field. Experience in the not-for-profit, community services or disability sector. Familiarity with CRM systems, digital engagement platforms such as Wordpress and Sprout Social, and content management tools.
