The key duties of the position include The Role The Directorate of Inquiries and Investigations (DII) sits within the Office of the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force (IGADF). The DII Legal Adviser is appointed as an Assistant IGADF, and provides legal support and advice to DII staff and other Assistant IGADFs in the conduct of complex assessments and inquiries. About our Team The Legal Adviser position provides a broad range of legal support to the DII team and case officers. Duties include, but are not limited to: Legal review of IGADF inquiry reports, including Military Police Professional Standards investigation reports when required; Assisting with drafting and review of Inquiry related documents, including but not limited to inquiry directions, compulsion and privacy notices, and procedural fairness notices; Coordinating or providing case related legal advice to DII staff and case officers; Liaising with the IGADF executive and General Counsel as required; Assisting in the provision of training and education within Defence on matters associated with Inquiries; Conducting or assisting with Inquiries (as an Inquiry Officer or Inquiry Assistant); and Representing the office and directorate in liaising and consulting with Defence and external agencies as required.
