Salary as of 12 March 2026: Total package $102,514 - $111,741 per annum, including 15.4% superannuation (Base salary $88,834 - $96,829 plus per annum, 15.4% superannuation). Position overview Associates/National Legal Officers provide legal and administrative support to the Court and to Judicial Registrars who perform delegated judicial functions in general federal law in areas including bankruptcy, Fair Work, migration, intellectual property and consumer law proceedings. Associates/National Legal Officers also support the effective case management of general federal law and migration matters in the Court through legal research and analysis, reviewing new filings to identify legal and case management issues, drafting orders and preparing Court lists and dockets. The key duties of the position include Key responsibilities and duties Exercise legal skills to support Judicial Registrars, including legal research, case analysis, drafting and preparing materials for Court. Assist Registrars in the planning and case management of matters including in the preparation and publication of orders, liaising with Judges' chambers, litigants and other services; Review new filings to identify legal and case management issues and make recommendations on appropriate case management pathways; Assist with the efficient and effective running of the Registrars' chambers, including through preparing correspondence and reports and managing the schedule of hearings and engagements in the Court databases, and assistance with registrar case management more broadly; Use Court applications and associated documentation to accurately enter and maintain information on Court databases, enter and disseminate listing information, and manage Court records and files; Develop and maintain relationships with Court users and be responsive to requests from external and internal stakeholders; Provide support to Judicial Registrars working on key national initiatives or specialist lists, including related case management and operational processes.
