About the opportunity The Member Support Officer - Legal (MSOL) role primary supports the Deputy President with paralegal, administrative, and case-management support however the role is also a part of the wider Member Services Team. The Member Support Officers play a crucial role in assisting the Members with managing cases from constitution through to finalisation of the case and deliver high-quality services. The key duties of the position include Key responsibilities Member and Guidance and Appeals Panel (GAP) support: Provide paralegal and administrative support to Tribunal Members, including the preparation of Member files, directions and orders and correspondence to review parties. Assist Members in finalising reviews, which may include fact-checking and proofreading. Undertake research as required, which may include legal or general research. Assist Members with efficient and effective conduct of hearings as required, including recording exhibits, swearing in witnesses, and recording directions and orders. Case management and analysis: Maintain and update case files using case management systems and undertake general administrative support functions, including data entry and filing, management of incoming and outgoing correspondence and copying. Develop and maintain sound knowledge of applicable legislation and policy frameworks and the operations and practices of the Tribunal. Manage a caseload and/or undertake case management and case analysis tasks. User engagement: Liaise with review parties in relation to cases before the Tribunal, and provide accurate and timely procedural information. Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of the Tribunal's statutory objectives. About you: Reporting to the Team Leader and working as part of a medium sized supportive team, you will work closely with Tribunal Members and Deputy Presidents of the Tribunal to provide paralegal, administrative and case management support A collaborative self starter, you will have: Knowledge of the operations, jurisdiction, practices and procedures of the ART, or an ability to quickly acquire that knowledge, and an ability to apply that knowledge when working on cases and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Highly developed organisational skills, including an ability to manage priorities and workloads, deal with conflicting demands, meet deadlines with limited supervision, and use case management systems. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and respectfully with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrate sound judgement, use initiative, develop new skills, and accept responsibility for personal development, productivity and adherence to policy and procedure. Well-developed research skills to facilitate general online research, legal research and research on government policies and procedures.
