The Senior Project Officer will work with the Project Manager to identify and implement strategies for capacity building within the Torres Strait communities to make best use of existing resources. The Senior Project Officer is the first point of contact for new clients interested in developing business ideas and for existing clients seeking support to improve or grow their business. The Senior Project Officer actively nurtures and manages relationships and networks with all stakeholders and local communities. The Senior Project Officer works under limited direction as an integral member of a small dynamic team working closely with all Programs across the TSRA, particularly the Fisheries Program. The key duties of the position include The Senior Project Officer will be required to administer and deliver a range of services to a cluster of communities in the Torres Strait including, but not limited to, the following key areas of activity: 1. Contribute effectively to the Economic Development outcomes of the TSRA Torres Strait Development Plan 2023-2028 and Regional Economic Investment Strategy. 2. Engage with communities, private sector and government stakeholders to identify issues and solutions to increase the capacity of individuals and organisations to participate in the local and broader economy. 3. Conduct one-on-one interviews and community information sessions to share information with existing and potential clients regarding the TSRA economic development suite of services. 4. Develop and implement innovative solutions to help clients achieve business and economic success including through joint ventures and enterprise partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses and remove barriers to genuine commercial ventures. 5. Using a place-based approach coordinate, implement, monitor and report on a suite of economic development products and services, including business support, home and business loans, grants and the Remote Australia Employment Service. 6. Analyse home loan, business loan and grant applications and business support services. 7. Provide ongoing pro-active support to loan and grant funding clients including compliance and arrears management where required. 8. Coordinate and conduct contract monitoring and reporting activities associated with loans and grants. 9. Market and promote awareness of TSRA products and services and create linkages to regional economic and business development networks and opportunities. 10. Assist with the coordination and preparation of material for briefings for Ministerial and TSRA Board meetings.
