Your new role We have an opportunity for an individual to join our External Oversight team as Managing Principal Officer on a full-time ongoing basis. Reporting to the Director - Public Law, Policy & Oversight, the role will lead the External Oversight team to ensure the acquittal of IBAC's oversight responsibilities in relation to Victoria Police's compliance with relevant legislation. A key requirement for the role is to ensure IBAC meets each of its compliance obligations in accordance with its legislative requirements which includes the timely, efficient and effective production of compliance reports to the Chief Commissioner of Police and Ministers. Duties include: Provide complex compliance advice, including through liaison and negotiation with stakeholders, to support IBAC to meet its statutory external oversight obligations. Professionally and promptly manage and resolve more complex work-related issues through to resolution; support constructive working relationships and act as a role model, modelling ethical behaviours and values. Translate business unit goals into realistic team objectives to ensure effective and efficient operational delivery; support staff in identifying and managing emerging risks in an environment of change and continuous improvement. Drive a culture of high performance, by providing direction and clear communication regarding role responsibilities and expectations; provide regular performance management and progress reviews to address performance strengths and gaps and provide relevant training and development opportunities to ensure successful achievement. Our requirements / Your skill set We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities: Understanding, or the ability to quickly gain an understanding of IBAC's police oversight functions and Victoria Police's compliance obligations pursuant to relevant legislation. Significant knowledge and experience in effective auditing, compliance and inspection methods and risk management. Relevant qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Experience in managing a team. Extensive auditing or compliance experience is essential. Experience in government, law enforcement or legislative compliance would be highly beneficial.
