Based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, Airbus work with multiple agencies to support the P-8 Poseidon Platform. The P-8A Poseidon is a purpose-built military aircraft using advanced sensors and state-of-the-art mission systems to provide maritime surveillance and response capability to Defence. About the role Airbus Australia Pacific is seeking a Cross Services Technical Lead to join our Surveillance and Response Program. This is a pivotal technical leadership and coordination role within the P-8A Support Services team, directly supporting the P-8A Through Life Support (TLS) sustainment prime contractor, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA). As the Technical Lead, you will act as a bridge between complex engineering requirements and operational delivery. You will focus on delivering high-quality technical support to ensure the ongoing airworthiness and operational effectiveness of the P-8 capability for the Australian Defence Force. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will balance technical oversight with team coordination to meet rigorous customer requirements: Technical Oversight: Manage incoming technical correspondence, Support and Test Equipment (S&TE) design changes, and Maintenance Requirements Determination (MRD) activities. Task Coordination: Assist the Team Lead with workload balancing, task prioritisation, and the coordination of routine and non-routine engineering activities. Process Excellence: Drive standardisation and continuous improvement through the simplification and optimisation of processes while ensuring strict compliance with DASR and company regulations. Engineering Support: Perform technical investigations of problems emanating from the OEM, maintenance, or operating environments and manage data files within Product Lifecycle Management Tools (PLMT). Customer Advocacy: Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand priorities and provide expert engineering advice. About you We are looking for a professional who pairs deep technical expertise in aviation with the "soft skills" required to lead and influence in a matrix environment. Technical Expertise: A Bachelor of Engineering (Maintenance/Airworthiness) or an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification (Avionics, Mechanical, or Structures). 5-8 years of technical experience in aircraft maintenance engineering (Part 145), CAM (Part M), or design engineering (Part 21J). Superior knowledge of DASR, EMAR, or CASA legislation. Experience with Reliability Engineering, Technical Publications, and Configuration Management. Personal & Leadership Skills: Stakeholder Management: A strong customer-service mindset with the ability to build long-lasting, collaborative relationships with peers and customers. Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve high-level service issues and clear "road-blocks" for the technical team. Communication: A straightforward and open communicator who can convey complex technical messages clearly and persuasively. Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple complex activities concurrently across various business units.
