The Opportunity Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Principal Commissioning Engineer provides expert leadership and technical oversight for the commissioning of VicGrid's high-voltage transmission infrastructure. The role is responsible for defining commissioning strategies, standards, and assurance processes that support the safe, reliable, and timely delivery of energy infrastructure critical to Victoria's clean energy transition. What you will deliver In this role you will lead the development and ongoing improvement of VicGrid's commissioning framework, including standards, procedures, and assurance requirements for high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will provide technical leadership and assurance in the development, review, and approval of testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning plans, including the effective management of changes to scope and sequencing. You will coordinate and provide technical direction to internal engineering teams, delivery partners, and external consultants to ensure commissioning activities are integrated, safe, and aligned with project and regulatory requirements. You will review and provide assurance over Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and pre-commissioning documentation to confirm asset readiness for energisation and operational handover. What you will bring Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale electricity transmission and/or distribution infrastructure projects, with commissioning experience within the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) highly regarded. Strong capability to assess and provide advice on complex technical and commercial issues, including cost–benefit considerations and value for money within an active client environment. * Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary work packages across internal teams, consultants, and contractors to achieve timely, high-quality outcomes.
