Professional retention payment for this role varies between 2% to 8% above Award rate About the Role Full time or part time options are available for the suitable candidate As part of the legal team, you will provide: Direct client services by way of legal services to Gold Coast residents by telephone and in-person; Preparation of and drafting letters, written correspondence and documents for clients; Advice and representation to clients appearing before the Mental Health Review Tribunal; Negotiating on behalf of clients, especially those unable to advocate and negotiate for themselves; Provided general information and referrals to clients; Network and represent the Centre where necessary to advocate for the Centre and clients Provide community legal education to the GC community if appropriate Work part of a team and contribute to team interactions and activities In this role, you will have the ability to apply for accreditation as a Legal Aid Preferred Supplier within the MHRT (if not already accredited). You will have access to the Principal Solicitor and a team of supervising staff and admin support To succeed in this role, you will: Be admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland or ability to apply for a Practicing Certificate in Queensland; Have at least 12 months experience in general civil law matters which the Centre assists in; Have at least 12 months experience in advising clients with matters relating to the Mental Health Review Tribunal; Demonstrate strong communication, time management and stakeholder engagement skills; Be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities whilst still delivering results; Bring a trauma informed approach to your work; Be committed to ongoing professional development; Have experience drafting relevant court documents and managing files; Demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including in crisis situations where client safety is at risk; Possess high-level knowledge of legal and non-legal referral pathways; Be committed to the mission and values of GCCLC and able to work to help achieve our Strategic Goals About GCCLC Please view our recent Annual Report on our website for a detailed outline of who we are, the services we provide and impact we have on our local community: https://www.gcclc.org.au/about-us/annual-reports Questions?
