Step into a senior technical leadership role based in our Fortitude Valley office, supporting the delivery of complex electrical engineering projects across Queensland and interstate. As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer , you’ll work closely with the General Manager and Principal Engineer to lead detailed design delivery across multiple projects, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring technical excellence from concept through to construction-ready documentation. This role sits at the heart of PHE’s growing Engineering division, supporting projects across oil & gas, mining, hydropower generation, remote power generation, manufacturing, pulp & paper, and timber processing. Your work will directly influence the safety, reliability, and performance of critical energy and industrial infrastructure. In This Role, You Will Lead and deliver detailed electrical designs across ELV, LV and MV systems. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and internal procedures. Mentor, train, and develop junior engineers, providing technical guidance and leadership. Design and draft low voltage switchboards and control panels. Design general lighting, power, and ancillary services. Integrate vendor packages into cohesive overall electrical designs. Prepare and manage design documentation in line with client deliverables. Perform electrical calculations and produce accurate technical scopes and reports. Raise and manage RFIs and coordinate responses with internal and external stakeholders. Work within EPC and EPCM delivery environments, understanding commercial and project drivers. Participate in site visits as required to support design outcomes and project delivery. About You We’re looking for a driven and capable engineer who enjoys ownership, technical depth, and influencing outcomes across diverse projects. Degree in Electrical Engineering eligible for Engineers Australia (Professional Engineer) membership. CPEng or actively working toward attainment within 12 months, with eligibility for RPEQ. Proven ability to deliver ELV, LV or HV designs independently from concept to completion. Strong experience in detailed electrical design and drafting (minimum 5 years). Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, and PowerCAD (or similar design tools). Comfortable working with minimal supervision while driving your own performance. Strong communication skills with confidence in client-facing environments. A collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing others.
