The Opportunity: PHE Engineering is seeking a high-calibre Electrical Project Engineer to join our expanding Engineering team and play a key role in delivering specialised solutions across a diverse portfolio. Our work spans oil and gas, mining, hydro power generation, remote gas-fired power plants, pulp and paper manufacturing, and timber processing—offering exposure to technically challenging and high-impact projects. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in the delivery of oil and gas projects, supported by strong technical capability in industrial instrumentation, low-voltage reticulation, and commissioning within major hazard facilities. This Brisbane CBD–based role offers a stable Monday–Friday office environment, complemented by site visits as project needs dictate. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Project Engineer will assist and coordinate multidisciplinary projects for clients across Queensland and interstate, contributing directly to the continued growth and technical excellence of PHE Engineering. In this role, you will: Manage engineering design deliverables and construction activities, interfacing between vendor supplied equipment packages, balance of plant and sub-contractor scopes. Oversee budget and cost forecasting as well as schedule reviews Plan and Organise vendors for shutdown activities Review provide input to FEED and Detailed Design to ensure that our clients standards and business requirements are being achieved or exceeded. Facilitate and manage FAT and SAT of vendor supplied equipment including control systems. QA and reporting, assist with quality management and all necessary documentation. Provide technical engineering to support project delivery from site or Brisbane office as required. About you: 5 years’ experience working within a heavy industry. A sound knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards. Strong knowledge in Protection and Arc Flash studies. Experience with commissioning and maintenance within a Major Hazard Facility Ability and willingness to visit our remote P&G site twice per year for up to 2 weeks per visit. Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision The successful candidate will have: A bachelor’s degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (satisfying the eligibility requirements for membership with Engineers Australia). Electrical License, Restricted License in Instrumentation and Control or Hazardous Area Certification would be highly regarded. A current Drivers Licence.
