Job Opportunity: Principal - Networks Change Management Location: Sydney or Melbourne Reports To: Senior Director Team Size: 14 Direct Reports About the Role: We're looking for a strategic and influential leader to take ownership of the end‑to‑end network change and configuration management function across a large‑scale, mission‑critical telecommunications environment. As the Principal - Network Change Management , you will lead a high‑performing team responsible for planning, assessing, governing, and executing all network changes — from fault remediation and service restoration to major upgrades and vendor‑driven implementations. You'll ensure every change is delivered with precision, minimal disruption, and full compliance with operational and regulatory standards. This role is central to maintaining network stability, driving process maturity, and strengthening collaboration across engineering, operations, and external partners. What You'll Do: Leadership & Strategy Lead, mentor, and develop a 24×7 team of Network Change Managers. Set strategic direction, performance goals, and operational standards. Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Change Governance Own and evolve the organisation's network change management framework. Chair the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and oversee the enterprise Schedule of Change. Ensure robust risk assessments, impact analysis, and contingency planning. Govern the Method of Procedure (MOP) validation process and repository. Operational Excellence Oversee complex network changes including fault recovery, service degradation fixes, infrastructure upgrades, and vendor‑led work. Ensure all changes meet SLA, compliance, and audit requirements. Lead post‑change reviews and root cause analysis for failed or degraded changes. Maintain accurate and current configuration data across all network assets. Stakeholder Engagement Act as the senior escalation point for engineering, service assurance, field operations, and vendor partners. Influence senior stakeholders on change priorities, risk appetite, and operational impacts. Provide executive‑level reporting on change performance, risk posture, and improvement initiatives. About You You'll thrive in this role if you bring: 10 years' experience in telecommunications network operations. Deep expertise in change management within complex technical environments. Proven leadership experience managing large technical teams. Strong understanding of mobile, fixed, IP, and transmission network technologies. Advanced knowledge of ITIL Change Management and service assurance frameworks. Experience with change management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy). Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. ITIL Practitioner or Expert certification.
