Description Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Processing & Operations Projects, the Group Manager – Operations Projects will lead the successful delivery of studies projects across Harmony Australasia operational sites in accordance with the Capital investment framework. With four direct reports, the Group Manager – Projects will be accountable for driving project execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and delivering outcomes on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This role champions a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, empowering teams to achieve operational excellence across diverse locations. Responsibilities This role will be based in our corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane with regular travel to multiple operational sites and study locations across Australia and Papua New Guinea. The key responsibilities of this role include: Strategic & Operational Leadership : Develop and execute project delivery strategies and tactics, aligned with corporate and site frameworks and guidelines. Oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of multiple concurrent projects and studies. Ensure projects support Harmony Gold’s long-term operational and growth objectives. Project Delivery & Execution: Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects across multiple operational sites. Establish and monitor project governance, risk management, and reporting frameworks. Drive accountability for project milestones, cost control, and quality assurance. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including site leadership, technical teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across project teams and operational sites. Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Embed best practices in project management, delivery, and operational integration. Champion the adoption of new technologies, methodologies, and process improvements. Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and ownership within project teams. Safety & Sustainability: Ensure all projects comply with Harmony Gold’s safety, environmental, and sustainability standards. Promote a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation. Site Engagement: Regularly travel to operational sites to oversee project progress, support teams, and ensure alignment with delivery objectives. Facilitate workshops, reviews, and improvement sessions on-site. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively with: Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline. Project or equivalent postgraduate qualification advantageous. 15 years’ experience in leading large-scale projects in mining or heavy industry. Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-site projects on time and within budget. Advanced expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK). Strong financial, commercial, and contract management skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation. Experience with project control and risk management.
