Job Description The Senior Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritising features, creating a clear vision for the product, and communicating that vision to the development team. This role collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, make decisions on product functionality, and ensure that the development aligns with business goals. You will play a crucial role in managing the product backlog, guiding iterative development, and adapting to changing requirements to deliver a successful and valuable software product. The Senior Product Owner is also expected to contribute to capability uplift and process improvements across the product discipline, including training, facilitation and mentoring of less experienced colleagues. Desired Skills and Experience Key Responsibilities: The core responsibilities of a Senior Product Owner includes, but are not limited to: Strategic Product Vision & Domain Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of ELMO’s company vision, strategy, and Go-to-Market (GTM) approach to inform product planning and prioritisation. Cultivate comprehensive product domain knowledge (T-shaped), including core features, market expectations, industry trends, and competitive analysis. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Partner to ensure the right business problems are being solved, applying a strategic understanding of business systems (people, process, technology, organisation). Proactively communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and opportunities through various forums (e.g., sprint reviews, portfolio updates, product showcases). Product Discovery & Definition: Lead comprehensive product discovery efforts, leveraging quantitative and qualitative research (e.g., customer interviews, usage tracking, prototypes) to deeply understand customer experience and validate assumptions. Translate strategic insights and roadmap items into well-defined epics and initiatives for the team backlog. Coordinate with designers, developers, and subject matter experts to validate assumptions, clarify customer needs, and ensure compliance requirements are met. Backlog Management & Prioritisation: Own and meticulously manage the product backlog, including refinement, prioritisation (e.g., RICE evaluation), and story point estimation. Break down initiatives and epics into thin, valuable slices of work using techniques like story mapping or MoSCoW. Actively seek and incorporate feedback from customer-facing teams and other stakeholders to refine and prioritise work. Agile Delivery & Quality Assurance: Facilitate core Agile ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) to ensure efficient team delivery. Define clear user stories with detailed acceptance criteria, ensuring they address user value, problems, and are appropriately sliced for incremental delivery. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure stories are understood, estimated, built, and validated efficiently, incorporating compliance, UX, and quality requirements. Drive product quality by validating the “Definition of Done”; coordinating User Acceptance. Testing (UAT), and ensuring new features integrate seamlessly without regressions. Ensure all product development adheres to ELMO’s information security and privacy policies and procedures. Continuous Improvement: Facilitate the identification of improvement opportunities during retrospectives to inform future planning. Develop quality documentation and facilitate knowledge transfer for new products and features to support business readiness. Ensure compliance with ELMO’s information security privacy policies and procedures. Deep understanding of Agile product management and delivery methodologies. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and documentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Familiarity with user-centred design principles. Confidence to proactively identify issues and propose effective solutions. Experience in a B2B environment, with mobile development or in HR is highly desired.
