Your contribution This position sits within Investment and Commissioning, which is responsible for ensuring the Queensland Government invests in the right programs to meet the needs of children and young people requiring statutory care and support under the Child Protection Act 1999. As Principal Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the department by analysing and reporting on investment and placement reform in out-of-home care services. You will provide high-level strategic advice, information, and support to senior officers on complex and diverse issues across finance and investment. Your work will directly contribute to budget development and the evaluation of investment and commissioning strategies that improve outcomes for children and young people. Your responsibilities Demonstrate contemporary expertise in financial management practices, legislative frameworks, government policies, and standards relevant to public sector finance. Provide expert advice and strategic direction on budget management, cash flow planning, forecasting, financial performance reporting. Continuously refine analysis and reporting frameworks to monitor the financial and budgetary position of Investment and Commissioning activities. Lead the design and implementation of financial management strategies focused on long-term sustainability and operational efficiency. Develop and apply advanced cost modelling techniques to support investment planning, service delivery analysis, and financial decision-making across Investment and Commissioning. Analyse and interpret cost drivers, unit costs, and service-level expenditure to inform strategic resource allocation and performance benchmarking. Lead or contribute to substantial and complex multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and departmental priorities. Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships through highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with influence. Contribute to team planning and performance by recognising individual accountability, embracing challenges, and demonstrating persistence in overcoming obstacles. Prepare a wide range of written materials, including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing notes, speech materials, and information papers related to business unit programs and initiatives. Position is Permanent Full-Time: noting that other temporary roles of varying durations will also be filled through this process. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
