YOUR NEW ROLE This position will primarily be rostered for Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons and evenings . A dditional weekday shifts may also be available during busy periods. This role is responsible for providing front-line customer service and is a key customer contact point for patrons attending performances on site and as such, has a significant impact on the customer experience. The position uses advanced customer service skills to warmly welcome, actively engage, warmly farewell and assist patrons with queries and problems during their visit to the Sydney Opera House. This role also provides assistance to patrons with accessible needs and ensures that the safety and well-being of all our customers remains our number one priority. Please note: Front of House Attendants work inside our venues in low light conditions with loud music and theatrical haze. Standing for long periods and walking up and down many steps are the norm in a typical shift. Our teams wear earpieces to receive audio updates and information throughout the shift via radio. Key Responsibilities/skills: Deliver a professional, welcoming Front of House experience that enhances the image of the Sydney Opera House. Provide comprehensive Front of House services including ushering, cloakroom duties, audience access, merchandise sales and venue presentation. Assist with emergency, medical, and evacuation procedures, including safely supporting less mobile or frail patrons. Maintain strong knowledge of Sydney Opera House operations, cultural environment, and programming. Demonstrate excellent customer service, good verbal communication & conflict resolution skills, high standards of diplomacy and teamwork in a fast-paced, public-facing environment. Ability to work as part of a team and without constant supervision. Meet physical and availability requirements, including standing for long periods, stair climbing, lifting up to 10kg, and working nights, weekends, public holidays and New Year’s Eve.
