Senior Communications Adviser Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (plus superannuation) Fixed-term position for 12 months Usual hours of work: Full-time Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (Flexibility available) The Role As a Senior Communications Adviser, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of media functions for the Victorian Fisheries Authority. This encompasses media relations, media writing, liaison with journalists, maintaining media lists and managing media enquiries. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this position also will lead several campaigns that span both traditional and emerging digital communications channels. This position requires an enthusiastic self-starter who is willing to work as a proactive member of a high-functioning team and can quickly develop positive and constructive working relationships with staff and external stakeholders. Key accountabilities include: Lead the delivery of media management functions for the Victorian Fisheries Authority. Provide authoritative and strategic advice to senior management on media issues and proactively identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Lead delivery of complex, multi-faceted communications campaigns that span both traditional and emerging communications channels. Support the Manager Communications in the achievement of communications team outcomes. Contribute as a member of a high functioning team to deliver projects and events on time, within budget and to high standards. Support the delivery of some projects, including events, as required. Adopt and apply OH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. The Team The position Senior Communications Adviser will work within Corporate Services branch, which sits within the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) group. About You To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience: Demonstrated high level experience in managing media functions in a fast paced and diverse professional environment. Demonstrated high level experience in delivering communications services across both traditional and digital channels including social media, and a demonstrated ability to lead delivery of complex, multi-faceted communications campaigns. Demonstrated expertise, flair and creativity in providing media relations advice, including the ability to proactively identify opportunities and manage risks and expectations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to quickly foster positive and constructive relationships with staff and external stakeholders to influence and optimise outcomes. Willingness to work as a proactive, enthusiastic, harmonious, innovative and positive team member to deliver projects and events on time, within budget and to high standards.
