Reporting to the Philanthropy and Development Manager, the Major Gifts Manager is responsible for identifying , cultivating and managing relationships with high - value supporter prospects, securing philanthropic support from individuals . Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Manage a defined portfolio of major donors and prospects to deliver agreed income and pipeline outcomes. Develop and implement clear, prioritised donor strategies that support retention, progression and long -term value. Deliver high quality stewardship and donor communications that build confidence, trust and sustained engagement. Play a key role in supporting Caritas Australia’s four priority major donor appeals across the year, attending and hosting engagements to strengthen relationships and drive impac t. This role will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week . Who are we looking for ? The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience: Tertiary qualification in fundraising, marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience), with demonstrated success in high-value fundraising or relationship led roles. Exceptional communication, relationship building, and collaboration skills, with the ability to cultivate genuine, long-term supporter partnerships, work effectively across teams, and present compelling cases for support. Strong data literacy and CRM capability, using insights to prioritise , plan, and track fundraising activity, coupled with professional discretion and respect when handling sensitive information. Excellent writing, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively .
