Description Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Processing & Operations Projects, the Group Tailings Manager will ensure robust tailings strategies for Life of Asset production, safety in design and monitoring, and compliance with ANCOLD standards and alignment to GISTM principles. This role drives innovation in tailings technology, develops future strategies, and embeds a culture of accountability, sustainability, and operational excellence. Responsibilities This role will be based in our corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane with regular travel to multiple operational sites and study locations across Australia and Papua New Guinea. The key responsibilities of this role include: Strategic & Governance Leadership: Develop and implement tailings strategies aligned with Life of Asset plans and corporate objectives. Ensure governance and compliance with ANCOLD standards and alignment to GISTM requirements. Safety in Design & Monitoring: Oversee design reviews, risk assessments, and monitoring systems for tailings facilities. Champion safety and sustainability principles in all tailings-related activities. Technology & Innovation: Develop future technology strategies for tailings management, including digital monitoring and predictive analytics. Evaluate and implement innovative solutions to improve tailings storage and reduce environmental impact. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, regulators, and external partners to ensure transparency and compliance. Provide expert guidance and reporting to executive leadership and site management. Operational Support: Support operational sites with technical expertise, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives. Conduct regular site visits to monitor performance and ensure adherence to standards. Qualifications About You: To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively with: Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Geotechnical, or related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in Technology, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering advantageous. 15 years’ experience in tailings management within mining 10 years’ experience as an Engineer of Record or Registered Tailings Facility Engineer Comprehensive knowledge of ANCOLD standards and GISTM principles. Proven ability to develop and implement governance frameworks and compliance systems. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
