As our Application Engineering Manager , you’ll be at the forefront of developing, building, and supporting internal business-facing applications that make a real impact. You’ll lead a small, but talented team of application engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to create streamlined, secure, and scalable solutions. You’ll champion best practices in application development, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our technology landscape is robust, modern, and future-ready. Your expertise in cloud services, DevOps, and Agile delivery will help bridge critical gaps, replace legacy systems, and support our mission to help members achieve their best financial position in retirement. What You’ll Need In-depth, demonstrable expertise in technology management roles, ideally in financial services, or similar enterprise scaled, and complex environments, with experience leading and developing application development teams. Full Stack hands-on expertise preferred with strong experience in modern software engineering tools, languages and platforms. Expertise in working with with Microsoft stack (Azure, .Net, SQL), Python, Agile delivery, and DevOps/ITIL processes. Advanced knowledge of application development best practices, solution architecture, and infrastructure technologies. Demonstratable experience in setting up application engineering practices and frameworks. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels. Innovative, curious, and adaptable, with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement. A comfort of working in the uncomfortable. Willingness to navigate ambiguity and a rapidly changing environment where we don’t have all the questions, let alone all the answers. Experience in regulated or global organisations, and relevant certifications (desirable). Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience/certifications.
