Role summary The Business Development Manager (BDM) provides commercial leadership for Miglas’ national business development and sales growth activities, with a strong focus on specification-led and project-based opportunities. This role ensures that Miglas’ market presence, industry relationships, and sales strategies are aligned with the organisation’s brand, product capability, and long-term growth objectives. Working in close partnership with the CEO and internal teams, the BDM translates strategic growth priorities into clear, actionable business development initiatives. The role builds and maintains trusted relationships with architects, designers, builders, resellers, and industry bodies, positioning Miglas as a leading technical and design partner within the architectural and construction sectors. Through leadership of business development activities and oversight of sales and marketing performance, the BDM drives sustainable revenue growth, strengthens organisational capability, and supports consistent, high-quality project delivery; directly contributing to Miglas’ reputation for quality and excellence. Requirements Who you are (selection criteria) You are a commercially driven business development professional with proven experience growing sales and market presence within the construction, architectural, building products, or a closely related industry. If you do not have this direct professional experience, you may have a strong understanding of the building and/or construction, or similar industries. You have demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with architects, designers, builders, and other key product specifiers, and understand the role of specification, technical credibility, and brand reputation in driving sales. You bring strong technical capability, including experience using CAD software and interpreting architectural drawings and documentation to support project-based opportunities. You are an effective communicator, with strong verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and confidence engaging with senior and technical stakeholders. You have hands-on experience managing the sales cycle, including outbound relationship development, customer engagement, quote preparation, and conversion. You are highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, process quotes accurately, and maintain momentum across varied sales pipelines. You bring experience supporting or managing sales team members, with the ability to prioritise, delegate, and contribute to team performance. You have experience coordinating with external marketing agencies and contributing to industry engagement activities such as trade shows, events, or architect forums. You are proactive, self-motivated, and results-focused, and are open to occasional, planned local and interstate travel as part of the role.
