The ACT Government Solicitor (ACTGS) is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join our organisation as Assistant Director, Legal Support. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving high‑quality legal support services across a large, centralised team that services multiple legal practice groups. Reporting to the Director, HR and Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ACTGS continues to deliver accurate, timely and professional legal support that meets operational, legislative and client service requirements. As the Assistant Director, Legal Support, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering essential legal support services across the ACTGS. You will oversee the allocation and delivery of work, ensuring excellence in customer service, compliance with procedures and legislation, and the effective management of records, data and workflow systems. You will build and maintain strong networks across the ACTGS, the Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS), and ACT Courts, fostering productive and collaborative working relationships. Your leadership will help ensure the capability and capacity of the legal support function remains robust, innovative and aligned with organisational goals. This role requires sound judgement, professionalism and a commitment to the ACT Public Service values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation. Eligibility/Other requirements: Experience in, or a demonstrated understanding of the legal service delivery environment in government or private practice is highly desirable. Qualification in Business or Government Administration is desirable. This position does not require a pre-employment medical. This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
