As Senior Development Manager, you will drive the organization’s technology strategy and lead enterprise-wide initiatives, combining strategic influence with hands-on engineering leadership. This is not a people-management-only role you will build complex, cloud-native systems, write production-grade code, and own technical delivery across the full software lifecycle. Responsibilities Drive broader strategic initiatives that impact multiple teams or functions, including platform modernisation, cloud migration, and AI adoption. Represent the engineering function in senior forums, shaping platform direction, investment decisions, and technical standards. Own the technical roadmap for the Core Health Platform, balancing innovation, technical debt, and platform evolution. Champion integration of AI/ML capabilities and generative AI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) into application workflows and development processes. Guide the use of frameworks such as Spring Boot, Express.js, FastAPI, ASP.NET Core, and modern UI libraries (React, Angular). Monitor and report on progress against strategic objectives, proactively addressing risks and opportunities. Write and review production-grade code in multiple modern languages (Java, Python, Node.js, Go, .NET), setting the standard for technical excellence. Champion test automation, CI/CD, secure coding practices, and continuous integration across all teams. Design and implement robust data models across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other platforms, supporting business intelligence, reporting, and operational needs. Lead integration with external systems and data sources using APIs, messaging platforms, and secure data exchange protocols. Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, including disaster recovery, business continuity, and vendor dependency. Foster cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing, leveraging expertise to solve broader organisational challenges. Communicate complex technical concepts and strategic decisions to diverse audiences, including senior management. Advanced technical skills in enterprise application architecture, cloud-native development, and AI/ML integration Strong hands-on development skills in at least two modern languages and frameworks. Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven systems, and API-first design. Experience with observability platforms (e.g. Splunk, AppDynamics) and SRE practices. Experience designing and working with modern data models on SQL Server and PostgreSQL. Experience with secure development practices and regulatory compliance (e.g. APRA, GDPR). Desirable Degree in Computer Science or related field, with certifications in cloud, DevOps, or architecture. Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Pulumi), and modern APIs (GraphQL, Istio, API gateways). Background in regulated industries like health insurance, with knowledge of accessibility standards and secure SDLC. Proven track record in strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, budgeting, vendor management, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
