We are partnering with a leading council in South Brisbane to recruit an experienced Python Developer for a long-term digital and integration transformation program scheduled to run over the next 24 to 36 months . This is a hands-on contract role within a highly capable and collaborative integration team, reporting into the Integration Lead. You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising Python-based applications and APIs that support critical council platforms, services, and data flows. This role suits a Python Developer who enjoys working on complex, real-world systems, collaborating closely with stakeholders, and delivering solutions that have meaningful community impact. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services Build and support RESTful APIs and system integrations Work across the full development lifecycle, including testing and deployment Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and delivery teams Maintain and enhance existing systems, improving performance and scalability Support production releases and contribute to long-term platform stability Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience developing in Python Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices Comfortable working in agile delivery environments Experience working in government or large enterprise environments is highly regarded What’s on Offer Long-term contract (up to 24 months) on a major transformation program Meaningful work supporting community-facing systems and services A genuinely fantastic team – collaborative, pragmatic, and delivery-focused Hybrid working model with 4 days onsite required Stable, well-funded program with strong executive support If you’re a Python Developer looking for a long-term contract with purpose, strong team culture, and technical depth, we’d love to hear from you.
