Aspiring Talent is partnering with Queensland Urban Utilities to engage an experienced Data Engineer for an 8-month maternity leave contract , running from January through to the end of August . This role supports the delivery of critical FY25 Digital & Analytics roadmap initiatives , providing additional capacity across core data engineering priorities. There is potential for permanent opportunities to follow , subject to business requirements and performance. The Contract: Rate: $1,200 per day Duration: January to end of August (8 months) Location: Fortitude Valley, Brisbane Contract Type: Maternity leave cover (with potential to extend or convert) About the Role You will join a high-performing Digital & Analytics team, contributing hands-on data engineering capability across cloud and on-prem environments. The focus is on platform uplift, performance optimisation, and delivery of reliable, scalable data solutions that support enterprise reporting and analytics. Key Responsibilities Perform Databricks cluster upgrades Enhance Databricks processing to improve cost visibility, savings, and performance Progress Data Engineering priorities aligned to the FY25 roadmap Complete data ingestions into the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Support on-prem production EDW decommissioning Provide project support across related data integrations Assist with Data Engineering BAU support , as required Contribute to Microsoft Fabric trials and learnings , where applicable About You Proven experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise environments Strong hands-on experience with Databricks , Azure , and data engineering pipelines Comfortable working across cloud and on-prem data platforms Experience with EDW ingestion, transformation, and optimisation Strong stakeholder engagement and delivery focus Able to step into a contract role and add value quickly This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a large-scale, well-governed data environment delivering essential services across South East Queensland.
