They require experienced legal counsel to support commercial operations, manage legal risk, and provide strategic advice across their growing Australian footprint. They are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide commercial and corporate legal advice across battery manufacturing, energy storage project delivery, and business expansion initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse legal matters within a high-growth clean technology business. The Role As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide commercial legal advice across battery manufacturing, energy storage project delivery, and corporate operations. This role requires expertise in commercial contracting, corporate law, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments affecting energy storage and clean technology sectors. You will draft and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on energy storage project contracts, support corporate transactions, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations. Working closely with commercial, operations, and executive teams, you will provide practical legal solutions supporting business objectives. This is a broad commercial legal role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution capability, with exposure to battery manufacturing, energy storage projects, and corporate matters. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including battery supply agreements, energy storage project contracts, and EPC agreements Provide legal advice on battery manufacturing operations, product applications, quality standards, and product compliance Support energy storage project delivery including offtake agreements, grid connection agreements, and project finance documentation Advise on consumer protection laws, Australian Consumer Law, and energy storage industry regulations Manage corporate legal matters including corporate governance, company secretarial functions, and board support Draft and negotiate property leases, facility agreements, and manufacturing infrastructure contracts Provide legal advice on employment matters, workplace relations, and HR policies Support business expansion initiatives including new market entry, facility establishment, and strategic partnerships Manage intellectual property matters including trademarks, patents, licensing, and IP protection Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and information security compliance Support due diligence processes for acquisitions, investments, and major transactions Manage disputes, litigation, and external legal counsel coordination Ensure compliance with energy storage regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements Develop contract templates, legal policies, and risk management frameworks Requirements Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) with admission to practice in Australia 5-8 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law with preference for energy, manufacturing, or clean technology sectors Strong commercial contracting skills with experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements Understanding of energy storage projects, battery supply agreements, or renewable energy contracts Knowledge of Australian Consumer Law and consumer protection regulations Experience with corporate law, governance, and company secretarial matters Ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work collaboratively across business functions Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills Experience managing external legal counsel and controlling legal spend Understanding of energy storage regulations, safety standards, or manufacturing compliance desirable Please submit your CV and a covering letter addressing: Your commercial contracting experience including types of agreements you have drafted and negotiated Your understanding of energy storage projects, battery supply agreements, or clean technology sectors For Further Information Contact Ivan Pignataro | Director D'Arcy Weil T: 61 3 9999 7409 M: 0416 507 856 E: ivan@darcyweil.com This role is being managed exclusively by Ivan Pignataro at D'Arcy Weil.
