We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the role of Supporter Research Lead Description The Role As the Supporter Research Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of the research and analysis required to better understand supporter behaviour, enhance supporter activation, and ensure that Oxfam uses its resources as effectively as possible. You will act as an internal consultant, leading the development, execution, and implementation of supporter research activities to optimise and guide the organisation’s supporter engagement activities in collaboration with the Supporter Insights and Analytics team. Sometimes this means collaborating with the marketing teams to develop more effective approaches to targeting supporter communications, and some days it might mean working with the fundraising executives to help refine the strategies. The position requires a high level of technical ability (e.g., proficiency in SQL and at least one other scripting language like R or Python, knowledge of good data management practices and statistical modelling), and experience leading results driven research projects in a complex organisational environment. In the Supporter Insights and Analytics team, we work to develop an accurate understanding of our audience, knowing how we can use data, research, and analytics to make better, evidence-based, decisions. This role is instrumental in leading some of the work required to achieve these goals, but also in advising how we can best utilise our resources to make the greatest positive impact on the way that Oxfam Australia’s fundraising area operates. Key Responsibilities Independently lead research projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders Mentor junior data analysts or data scientists in best practice research processes and protocols Lead development of statistical or machine learning models to improve forecasting capabilities and advise on the use of these models in the development of supporter segmentation and related targeting strategies Support the augmentation of supporter data by incorporating data overlays and developing supporter segmentation models in collaboration with other members of the Supporter Insights and Analytics team Work closely with fundraising and resource growth teams to understand their strategies, plans and needs to develop informative reporting procedures that deliver actionable insights and improved fundraising outcomes A little about you (the key selection criteria) To be successful in this role you will have: Demonstrated experience independently leading research on human behaviour (e.g., market research, economics, or behavioural science research) Experience clearly communicating research findings and connecting research outputs to practical outcomes A high level of proficiency in SQL and at least one other scripting language such as R or Python Demonstrated experience using research results to drive actionable outcomes in a complex organization What we can offer you A base salary of $114,801.48, plus superannuation, superior leave benefits and access to a generous not-for-profit salary packaging program (up to $18,450 of your salary tax-free) .
