Introduction Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is Australia’s leading breast cancer consumer organisation. We stand with Australians affected by breast cancer to ensure their voices drive meaningful change. As the leading breast cancer consumer organisation, we inform, support, connect and advocate driving a sense of connectedness for our community and better outcomes for them and our healthcare system. BCNA was born out of a small group of determined women who wanted to make the breast cancer journey better. In 1998, when Lyn Swinburne founded BCNA, her vision was for no one to feel alone through their experience of breast cancer. Over the past 25 years, we have built a strong and resilient network that brings together over 250,000 individuals. We are led by the lived experience of those who have already been diagnosed and we are driven every day to make the experience better for those who will be diagnosed tomorrow. We’re growing! As part of our ambitious new strategy, we’re creating exciting opportunities for motivated professionals to join us and help shape the future of BCNA. This role reflects our commitment to innovation, strengthening our services, and expanding our impact to deliver even greater value to the communities we serve. Description The Senior Policy & Advocacy Officer is a senior member of Breast Cancer Network Australia’s (BCNA) Policy & Advocacy team, contributing to the delivery of BCNA’s policy and advocacy programs to ensure the voices and experiences of Australians affected by breast cancer inform policy, research, and health system reform. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Policy & Advocacy, the role takes a lead role in coordinating and delivering policy and advocacy activities, with a strong focus on integrating and supporting meaningful consumer involvement. The Senior Policy & Advocacy Officer contributes to the development of policy advice, submissions, and briefings for senior staff, and monitors, analyses, and reports on emerging policy, research, and system developments aligned to BCNA’s priorities. A core focus of the role is fostering strong, respectful engagement with BCNA’s members and consumers, ensuring lived experience is embedded across BCNA’s policy, advocacy, and research partnerships. This is an opportunity to step into a senior policy role where your expertise, judgement, and initiative genuinely matter. As a Senior Policy & Advocacy Officer at BCNA, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping policy and advocacy work that influences health system reform and improves outcomes for people affected by breast cancer. You’ll join a high-performing team with a strong track record of impact, at a time of growth and evolution. The role offers scope to lead complex work, strengthen policy and advocacy approaches, and support meaningful consumer engagement — while working closely with senior leaders. Importantly, the role also provides opportunities to work with global stakeholders, contributing Australian perspectives, learning from international best practice, and supporting BCNA’s engagement in global policy conversations.
