The business is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to support workshop operations by delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality mechanical services. The Role The Motor Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining petrol and diesel vehicles to ensure roadworthiness, performance, and customer satisfaction. The annual salary is set between $76,000 to 78,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. The Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in petrol and diesel vehicles using diagnostic tools and systematic fault-finding techniques. Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and cooling systems. Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Conduct vehicle inspections to assess roadworthiness and identify existing or potential mechanical issues. Test and adjust repaired vehicles to ensure faults have been rectified and systems operate safely and efficiently. Interpret manufacturer service manuals, technical bulletins, and diagnostic data to complete repairs accurately. Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and repair documentation in line with business and compliance requirements. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and environmental standards. Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safe operation of workshop tools, equipment, and work areas. Communicate effectively with supervisors and service advisors regarding repair requirements, parts needs, and job completion timelines. The Requirements: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification. Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience working as a Motor Mechanic (General) in a commercial automotive workshop. Minimum of 3 years' experience diagnosing and repairing petrol and diesel engines, including braking, suspension, steering, and cooling systems. Minimum of 3 years' experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and interpreting fault codes. Minimum of 3 years' experience reading and applying manufacturer service manuals and technical specifications. Strong knowledge of vehicle safety standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and safe work practices. Ability to work accurately to specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. Strong problem-solving, organisational, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment. Valid Australian driver's licence.
