The opportunity: Spire Recruitment is partnering with a leading commercial property group seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Trust Accountant to manage their trust accounting operations and support a growing portfolio. In this senior role, you’ll oversee all financial and compliance aspects of commercial trust accounting, lead a small, capable team, and act as the main point of contact for landlord clients and stakeholders. The role Key responsibilities include: Leading and mentoring a team of 4–5 within the commercial property management division. Managing the full commercial trust accounting function — receipting, disbursements, reconciliations, outgoings, and financial reporting. Handling complex lease financials, arrears management, rent reviews and end‑of‑tenancy accounting. Managing legal and VCAT documentation and supporting resolution of disputes on behalf of landlords. Acting as the primary finance contact for landlords, providing high‑level advice and strategic financial insights. Collaborating with dedicated leasing, marketing, and building management teams who handle operational aspects of the portfolio. Contributing to continuous improvement, process automation and system optimisation within the finance and trust function. About you To succeed in this position, you will bring: Proven experience in commercial trust accounting within a real estate or property management environment. Strong understanding of commercial leases, arrears, outgoings, GST, and trust compliance requirements. Exceptional accuracy and confidence working with complex financial data. Experience managing or mentoring team members within a trust or property accounting environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with landlords, auditors, and professional advisors.
