This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant with hands-on operational mining experience who can step in with minimal onboarding, lead month-end, and partner closely with site leaders. This is a technical, operationally focused finance partnering role . Key Responsibilities Technical Accounting & Month-End Lead month-end close for operational cost centres: journals, contractor accruals, stock movements, fleet costs and balance sheet reconciliations. Deliver accurate P&L reporting with detailed variance analysis across Mining, Processing, Maintenance and Site Support. Maintain financial governance around consumables, explosives, power, reagents, and other operational inputs. Review contractor claims and validate large operational invoices. Support internal compliance and external audit processes. Business Partnering Act as a trusted finance partner to Mine Managers, Maintenance Superintendents, and site leadership teams. Present monthly results, challenge assumptions, and provide meaningful insights to improve operational cost control. Build strong relationships across operations and commercial teams. Translate financial data into practical operational decision-making. Forecasting & Cost Management Support rolling forecasts for labour, contractors, consumables, fleet, and production costs. Identify cost drivers, analyse deviations, and propose corrective actions. Contribute to budgeting and operational planning where required during the contract term. Commercial Insight Analyse operational contracts and contractor performance. Support capex tracking and commercial evaluations where needed. Ensure operational decisions are grounded in accurate financial information. Ideal Candidate Must Have CA / CPA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent). Strong technical accounting capability with excellent month-end discipline. Direct experience within mining, mining services, or heavy industry operations. Demonstrated business partnering with operational leaders (mining, processing, maintenance). Able to work autonomously and hit the ground running. Highly Advantageous Exposure to underground or open-pit gold operations. Experience with mine contractor claim reviews and operational cost analysis. Strong Excel ability and ERP familiarity (Pronto, SAP, Oracle, etc.). Experience supporting multiple sites or complex operational environments. Why This Contract?
