The Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner is a team of passionate and dedicated staff who advocate for small business interests, provide information and advisory services to the public about matters relevant to small business, assist small business in informally resolving disputes and administer a mediation service. Our vision is to improve the business environment for small and family businesses. This includes reducing the time and cost of resolving disputes and providing advice and assistance to support their success. Our Assistance team provides professional dispute resolution support services to reduce the time and cost associated with resolving disputes involving small businesses. As a key member of the team, you will deliver people-centred, end-to[1]end services to boost small business productivity by providing customised information, conducting outbound phone calls to guide clients through their disputes, managing a caseload of lodged disputes and delivering tailored informal dispute resolution services. Using your skills in dispute resolution, communication, and professional judgement, you will coach small business owners and their landlords in resolving disputes. You will triage the inbound work received, working closely with the director to escalate matters and determine appropriate approaches to achieve outcomes. Additionally, you will administer mediation services including working with our panel of external mediators to prepare parties for mediation. Role responsibilities You will have responsibility for the following activities and tasks: Provide high-level professional, people-focused end to end services to clients to boost small business productivity by: o Providing information to small business owners. o Delivering outreach services to help small business owners navigate complex challenges. o Coordinating and providing informal small business dispute resolution services. o Administering mediation services to resolve small business disputes. Use high-level written and oral communication skills to assist clients with telephone and online enquiries and requests for support. Manage client expectations and create meaningful and accurate records. Provide high-level advice and assistance in relation to operational matters (including mediation assessments, reporting, briefings, ministerial and executive correspondence and presentations). Mentor other Business Liaison Officers in the fulfillment of duties and team operations. Research, understand and apply legislation, policies and procedures to assist clients with complex problems. Outreach to external support providers and organisations to liaise as appropriate. Undertake other significant projects and operational activities as directed. Provide high-level support to the delivery of the functions of the Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner.
