Job Description Senior Algorithms Engineer Sydney | Full-time | On-site / Hybrid | $150k-190k super The Mission Every second, autonomous systems are making split-second decisions that affect real-world security. Behind them are algorithms built to recognise patterns, act under uncertainty and perform when it matters most. This team designs those algorithms. You’ll join the group responsible for developing the core intelligence that detects, tracks and responds to complex aerial and electronic threats in real time. What You’ll Do Build and optimise high-performance algorithms that run on the edge in time-critical environments Develop simulation and benchmarking frameworks to validate sensor fusion and response logic Profile and tune models for low-latency, high-throughput execution under load Integrate software into multi-sensor, multi-effector systems deployed in operational contexts Contribute to roadmap design, from concept through to field-ready release Apply modern engineering practices including testing, documentation and CI/CD automation Collaborate across teams to diagnose, test and refine performance in production conditions What You Bring Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field 5 years experience in professional software engineering Strong programming skills in Python and at least one compiled language ( C++ or Go ) Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures and applied mathematics Experience with real-time distributed systems and inter-process communication (gRPC, Protocol Buffers or similar) Proficiency in Linux-based environments and containerisation (Docker) Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, observability stacks and profiling frameworks Exposure to sensor fusion, multi-object tracking or data association is highly valued The Type of Engineer Who Thrives Here You like hard problems with no playbook. You think in systems, optimise by instinct and care about performance down to the millisecond. You enjoy bridging theory and deployment, working in teams that value clarity, rigour and shared ownership. Why This Role Matters You’ll work on real technology protecting people and infrastructure in an increasingly autonomous world. The engineering challenges are deep, the data sets complex and the feedback loops short. This is applied research with operational impact — algorithms that think fast and act faster.
