The Role ALS is seeking a Fire Assay Team Leader for our metallurgical services business in Perth WA. Successful applicants will become part of its busy mineral testing laboratories that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time, and by maintaining strong relationships with its clients. You will be a casual employee working up to 75 hours a fortnight (shiftwork is required for this role- day/afternoon/occasional night shifts), with a view to permanent employment after a period of service. Reporting to the Area Supervisor your responsibilities as a team member, will be to perform fire assay procedures safely and successfully to meet the expectations of our clients. The role may lead to permanent full-time employment in the future. The laboratory is based in the Balcatta, a northern suburb of Perth. This is not FIFO mine site position. The day to day Applicants will be based in the Balcatta laboratory, typical duties include: All aspects of the fire assay process including weighing, fluxing, pouring, de-slagging, cupellation and prilling Wet chemistry (aqua regia and amalgam) digestions of prills Scorification Training and mentoring staff with Fire Assay techniques Day to day operation of the team including scheduling staff and work Maintenance of equipment and instrument Liaise with professional and technical staff with test work requirements Follow procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard. Accurate record keeping, capturing, and processing control samples. The essentials Applicants with previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded, future development will be provided for successful applicants. Suitable candidates for this role must have: Previous experience in classical Fire Assay techniques Good communication, organisational and time management skills. Great attention to detail and be highly motivated. Ability to undertake Shift work as required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
