About the Role Clinically assess patients, arrange necessary investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge under the supervision of consultants. Attend and assist with procedures and become competent in appropriate clinical and technical practice under supervision. This includes ultrasound for vascular access, lung, and cardiac. Maintain comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records for assigned patients. Ensure that discharge summaries and other correspondence are completed without delay and communication with other specialty teams and healthcare agencies is maintained. Work collaboratively with nursing staff and allied health professionals. Participate in clinical outreach services of the PICU i.e. assessment and management of children in other locations of the hospital. Participate in the registrar education program. Take part in audits and quality management meetings and initiatives of the PICU. Completes quality improvement activities by undertaking clinical audits and clinical risk management activities on an annual basis. Participate in bedside teaching of medical students on placement in the PICU.
