This role will apply an advanced or competent level of technical and scientific knowledge, skills and experience in histology, and engage in independent decision making and judgement on a day to day basis with minimal clinical practice supervision Key competencies (role specific criteria): You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following: - Demonstrated ability to apply competent scientific judgement in the coordination of Anatomical Pathology processes and to follow established standard operating procedures.- Demonstrated ability to provide Anatomical Pathology services specifically in the areas of histology with a focus on microtomy, embedding and performing duties associated with the processing of surgical tissue through the cut-up areas of the histology laboratory.- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification. - Demonstrated ability (or understanding) to triage workloads and communicate this effectively with team members.- Proficiency in the use of laboratory information systems or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills.- Experience or an understanding of the various facets of immunohistochemical and molecular testing on anatomical pathology specimens would be highly desirable. - The successful applicant will be on a fixed rostered late shift 13:30-22:00 hours weekdays, Monday-Friday. - The successful applicant may be required to participate in a rotational roster to cover on-call arrangements as required.
