Our client seeks a Project Controls Lead for a Perth based role with ad hoc site visits, the role has the potential to be ongoing for the right candidate Project Scope: Construction and installation of non-process infrastructure (NPI) at an operating gold mine, including (but not limited to) camp expansions, administration buildings, workshops, warehouses, power generation/distribution upgrades, water supply systems, roads, and supporting civil/structural works. Primary Purpose The Project Controls Lead is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the integrated project controls framework for the non-process infrastructure package. This role ensures accurate and timely forecasting, monitoring, reporting, and control of schedule, cost, risk, change, and performance across the entire project lifecycle (detailed design through commissioning and handover). Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain the Project Controls Plan and all supporting procedures (scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, risk, change management, document control, reporting). Lead the creation and ongoing management of the Level 3 baseline schedule (Primavera P6 or MS Project) incorporating engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities. Implement and manage an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tailored to the NPI scope, including establishment of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), progress measurement rules, and quantity tracking. Produce accurate monthly cost and schedule forecasts , variance analysis, and recovery/mitigation plans. Chair regular progress review meetings with contractors, engineering teams, and owner's team. Oversee trend and change management processes; evaluate contractor change requests, prepare impact assessments, and maintain the change register. Establish and manage the project risk register ; facilitate quantitative risk analysis (schedule & cost) using @Risk or Primavera Risk Analysis, update Monte Carlo simulations monthly. Coordinate the production of high-quality internal and external reporting (weekly dashboards, monthly executive reports, gate reviews, lender/investor reports if applicable). Manage the project controls team (planners, cost engineers, quantity surveyors, document controllers) and mentor junior staff. Ensure integration of contractor schedules and cost reports into the master project controls system. Drive schedule compression and cost-saving initiatives while maintaining safety and quality standards. Support claims analysis and dispute resolution when required. Ensure compliance with company governance, auditing requirements, and regulatory obligations. Essential Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline. Minimum 10-12 years of project controls experience, with at least 5 years in a Lead role on mining or heavy industrial projects valued >US$150M. Proven experience on gold mining projects (or similar bulk commodities) with significant non-process infrastructure scopes. Expert user of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project ; advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Power Pivot); experience with Prism, Candy, or similar cost management tools is highly regarded. Strong background in Earned Value Management , quantitative risk analysis, and forensic schedule analysis. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary, multi-contractor environments in remote mine site locations (FIFO experience essential). Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred (but not mandatory) Postgraduate qualification or certification (PMP, AACE, PSP, CCP, PMI-RMP). Previous employment with Tier-1 mining owners or major EPCM contractors in Australia, Canada, West Africa, or South America. Exposure to Pronto, SAP, Prism G2, Acconex/Aconex, or similar enterprise systems.
