Lead and collaborate on in-house design reviews provide engineering thought leadership and engage the drafting team to create concept drawings. Coach and mentor: provide leadership, guidance and direction to the engineering team, including assigning tasks (in conjunction with the Engineering Manager) and monitoring progress. Provide mentoring, support and assistance to junior Engineers for effective career development, in accordance with HR practices. The right kind of leader that provides a clear fit with the dynamics and culture of the CSS Engineering and Production teams, will be an important consideration in the selection process for this role. Utilise finite element analysis and simulations to ensure designs meet required specifications. Build prototypes of mechanical system assemblies and equipment to propose improvements to advanced mechanical systems. Conduct rigorous testing in controlled environments and analyse test data to enhance designs and ensure compliance with industry standards. Research, Review and Select appropriate materials for mechanical applications, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, strength, and durability in extreme weather conditions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical components into complete control systems, ensuring seamless and efficient functionality. Stay updated and aware of emerging market and technology trends like mechanical, robotic, drone, and ROV technologies and research trends to contribute to the company's innovation efforts. Identify and evaluate opportunities for technological advancements and cost efficiencies. Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and computer-aided design and drafting drawings. Engage multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and other members of the engineering team, to deliver comprehensive mechanical system solutions. MUST HAVE FULL WORKING RIGHTS AND BE BASED IN PERTH OR AUSTRALIA WITH A COMMITMENT TO LOCATE TO PERTH IN 2-4 weeks maximum. ESSENTIAL AND DESIRABLE SKILLS EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Qualified in Mechanical Engineering and ideally Master's degree would be advantageous. Holding a professional engineering license (PE) would be advantageous. Minimum 10 years of mechanical design engineering experience ideally in a combination of Engineering, Production, Research & Development & Innovation Minimum 3 years experience coaching, mentoring and supporting team members Proven experience in complex mechanical design, preferably in R&D and Innovation environments. Sound competency computer-aided design (CAD) software, Solidworks would be preferred or similar. Exceptional analytical mindset, problem-solving skills and think outside the box. This role would suit someone who has a passion and hobby for Drones, Robotics or ROV with an understanding of the equipment and technologies.
