Our client is delivering some of Australia's most significant transmission infrastructure projects, providing the critical connections needed to enable the renewable energy transition. They are seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Lines Engineer to lead the design and delivery of major transmission line projects. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for transmission line engineering across major infrastructure projects including overhead lines, underground cables, and associated infrastructure. You will lead engineering teams, manage technical design, and ensure successful delivery of transmission projects that will shape Australia's energy future. As Senior Transmission Lines Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on nationally significant projects, working with engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver complex transmission infrastructure safely, on time, and to specification. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Design Lead transmission line engineering for major high voltage infrastructure projects Provide technical leadership and oversight across transmission line design teams Develop design standards, specifications, and engineering guidelines Review and approve transmission line designs including overhead lines and underground cables Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for transmission corridors Ensure designs meet Australian Standards and project requirements Project Delivery & Execution Lead engineering delivery of major transmission projects from concept through to construction Manage engineering scope, schedules, and deliverables Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and commissioning engineers Oversee detailed design including route selection, tower design, foundation design, and conductor selection Manage engineering interfaces with EPC contractors, consultants, and suppliers Ensure engineering quality, constructability, and compliance Transmission Line Design Lead design of overhead transmission lines including tower structures, foundations, and conductor systems Oversee underground cable design including cable selection and installation methods Conduct electrical design including fault level analysis, protection coordination, and earthing Perform transmission line analysis using PLS Tower, PLS CADD, and power system analysis tools Design clearances, easements, and right-of-way requirements Stakeholder Management & Compliance Engage with network operators, AEMO, and regulators on technical requirements Coordinate with landowners, councils, and community stakeholders Manage environmental approval processes and technical compliance Ensure compliance with Australian Standards including AS 7000 Present technical solutions to project boards and senior stakeholders Team Leadership Lead and mentor transmission line engineers and design teams Build technical capability and expertise within teams Foster collaborative and safety-focused engineering culture Manage engineering resources and capacity planning Essential Requirements Education & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards registration 10-12 years of experience in transmission line engineering and power systems Proven experience delivering major transmission infrastructure projects Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in transmission line design including overhead lines and underground cables Strong knowledge of tower design, foundation design, conductor selection, and clearances Proficiency with PLS Tower, PLS CADD, and transmission line analysis software Understanding of power system analysis including fault levels, protection, and earthing Knowledge of geotechnical engineering, structural design, and construction methods Familiarity with environmental assessment and approvals for transmission corridors Standards & Regulations: Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Standards including AS 7000 and AS/NZS transmission standards Understanding of network planning standards and grid connection requirements Awareness of environmental regulations and approval processes Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and construction safety requirements Familiarity with AEMO technical requirements and network operator standards Project & Leadership: Proven leadership capabilities with experience leading engineering teams Strong project management skills with experience managing complex infrastructure projects Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and regulators Track record delivering major transmission projects on time and to specification Strategic thinking with ability to solve complex technical challenges Capability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and executive leadership Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience managing complex relationships Ability to represent engineering in regulatory forums and community consultations Technical writing skills for reports, specifications, and design documentation Professional presence suitable for client and executive engagement Additional Requirements Experience working on Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) or major transmission projects Experience
