Compass Recruitment is working with a leading manufacturing company in their search for an experienced Automation Engineer to join their Capital project team. This role is available on a long term contract and would suit an Engineer situated in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. The role will sit within a capital projects team upgrading legacy systems across various areas of the site. To be successful in this role you will ideally need; Electrical and/or Automation engineering background, including Instrumentation and PLC systems, with an associated Automation Controls, Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering degree. Minimum 7 years relevant industrial experience and participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (preferably including different products and technologies in Automation areas) Extensive Experience with PLC level SCADA programming and communication protocols required for semi-auto or full automation of tools or material handling systems. Strong preference for experience with Siemens 300 and 1500 series PLC and Citect SCADA systems. Ability to troubleshoot using P&ID and electrical diagrams Knowledge of Ethernet I/O networks Experience within the following areas would be particularly advantageous; Material handling, and warehouse management systems Cranes, and associated automation systems Experience with GEM80 PLC’s iBA data logging.
