As a Senior Policy Officer, you'll help shape policy that delivers real benefits for Queenslanders. You'll work across a wide range of issues, contributing to the development of clear, practical and effective policies, legislation and programs that support the government's priorities. Working in a central agency means you'll collaborate with teams across the Queensland Government and help provide high quality advice to the Premier, Cabinet and Cabinet Committees. You'll contribute to longer-term policy thinking, help navigate complex issues and provide strategic advice that supports sound decision-making. In this role, you'll research and analyse complex matters, prepare well-developed submissions, briefs and Cabinet material, and build strong relationships with colleagues, other government agencies, other levels of government and the private sector. You'll represent the department in meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture. What you'll be doingIn this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Assist in identifying, developing and analysing complex policy options on significant social policy issues.- Provide input to the monitoring and evaluation of policy development activities.- Prepare or contribute to well researched submissions, including on complex policy matters and Cabinet submissions.- Liaise with colleagues across the division, other departments and non government organisations to progress policy outcomes.- Assist senior officers in preparing for interdepartmental meetings and represent the department as required.- Provide strategic advice and policy analysis that supports effective government decision-making.- Contribute to the development of longer term policy directions for government consideration. To be successful, you will have: - Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and providing strategic advice to government.- The ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high volume environment.- Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple competing deadlines.
