Introduction This hybrid role combines People & Culture responsibilities with Office Management , serving as the primary on-site point of contact for day-to-day operational and staff support at our Melbourne campus. The People & Culture Generalist component provides HR support across both Melbourne and Brisbane campuses, working closely with the People & Culture Manager and leadership team. This role supports recruitment, employee relations, workforce planning, and culture-building initiatives while ensuring compliance with policies, modern awards and employment legislation. Description Key Responsibilities Office Management Oversee the smooth and efficient daily operations of the Melbourne office. Act as the first point of contact for general office queries and issues. Coordinate office events and local staff engagement activities. Manage on site OHS matters, including inspections, risk assessments, incident reporting and liaising with the building and facilities managers as needed. Maintain office supplies, stationery, equipment and vender/service provider relationships. Coordinate workstation setups, IT and equipment needs, and support new staff with office orientation. People & Culture Lead end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding for Melbourne and Brisbane campuses as well as some of our international entities. Provide timely advice on day-to-day staff matters, including wellbeing, performance concerns, grievances, and general employee relations. Support workforce planning and retention strategies. Assist with performance management processes, providing guidance to line managers. Ensure policies and procedures comply with relevant legislation and Modern Awards. Coordinate staff social events and engagement initiatives across both campuses. Work with the People & Culture Manager to implement professional development initiatives. Assist with academic recruitment in Australia and internationally. Contribute to People & Culture projects, reporting, and organisational initiatives in collaboration with the wider People & Culture team. Essential Requirements Minimum 4 years’ experience in an Office Manager or similar role with exposure to Human Resources. A relevant HR qualification (or working towards). Experience providing support on day-to-day staff issues in a professional environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels with maturity, diplomacy, and discretion. General knowledge of HR practices and employment frameworks. Strong organisational and leadership skills. Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and make informed decisions. Willingness and ability to travel to the Brisbane campus as required. Knowledge of the National Employment Standards and Modern Awards. Desirable Experience in the tertiary or higher education sector Experience supporting multi-site or multi-campus environments. Experience working in regulated or compliance-focused organisations. Experience with HRIS or recruitment systems.
